Coherent Doppler lidar for wind velocity and direction measurements.
As a remote wind sensor having an ability of three-dimensional wind sounding, a coherent Doppler lidar operating in the eye-safe infrared wavelength range of 9-10mu;m has been successfully developed in ground-based and airborne applications for a variety of scientific research purposes.

Abstract Atmospheric boundary layer height (ABLH) plays an important role in air–sea interactions and regional climate over the western North Pacific (WNP). Using ERA5 reanalysis data from 1979 to 2025, this paper investigates the interannual variability, monthly variations, and seasonal spatial patterns of ABLH.

Development of Doppler Wind Lidar Simulator for future space application [PDF]
Wind is one of fundamental meteorological elements describing the atmospheric state. Global wind observation is important to improve the initial conditions essential for numerical weather prediction (NWP), climate studies, and meteorological studies.

Abstract Wildfires alter local atmospheric conditions, yet the spatial extent and frequency‐dependent characteristics of fire‐induced inflow perturbations remain largely unquantified. This study applies Multivariate Empirical Mode Decomposition (MEMD) to analyze high‐frequency horizontal wind speed data from a tower positioned at varying distances (∼80–

Abstract Low‐level clouds in the tropical cyclone (TC) rainbands modulate the radial inflow of warm, moist boundary layer air, which can impact TC intensity. Yet, precisely measuring rainband cloud boundaries with existing remote sensing techniques remains a challenge.

Abstract Climate models have substantial biases in downwelling shortwave radiation over the Southern Ocean (SO) and Antarctica, primarily due to their inability to accurately represent the frequent occurrence of low‐level mixed‐phase clouds. Building on the evaluation of the Unified Model (UM) Regional Atmosphere and Land version 3 (RAL3), this study ...

Redefining Optimal Coverage Path Planning for FLS‐Equipped AUVs With Deep Reinforcement Learning
ABSTRACT Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) have emerged as indispensable tools for a variety of subsea tasks, from habitat monitoring and seabed mapping to infrastructure inspection and mine countermeasures. A fundamental challenge in this field is Coverage Path Planning (CPP), the problem of ensuring complete and efficient area coverage.

River Sand and Gravel Mining: Global Drivers, Impacts, and Pathways for Sustainable Management
Abstract River sand and gravel are mined worldwide at volumes that now rival their natural replenishment, yet quantitative knowledge of this mining activity and its consequences lags far behind many other global environmental pressures. We synthesize 411 peer‐reviewed studies published since 1974 within a new Driver‐to‐Management Pathway for ...
