Interhemispheric comparison of spectral width boundary as observed by the SuperDARN radars [PDF]
International audiencePrevious studies have shown that dayside equatorward edge of coherent HF radar backscatter having broad Doppler spectral width is coincident with the equatorward edge of the cusp particle precipitation.

A Network of Portable, Low-Cost, X-Band Radars [PDF]
Radar is a unique tool to get an overview on the weather situation, given its high spatio- temporal resolution. Over 60 years, researchers have been investigating ways for obtaining the best use of radar.

Nightside studies of coherent HF radar spectral width behaviour [PDF]
A previous case study found a relationship between high spectral width measured by the CUTLASS Finland HF radar and elevated electron temperatures observed by the EISCAT and ESR incoherent scatter radars in the post-midnight sector of magnetic local time.

An interhemispheric, statistical study of nightside spectral width distributions from coherent HF scatter radars [PDF]
International audienceA statistical investigation of the Doppler spectral width parameter routinely observed by HF coherent radars has been conducted between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres for the nightside ionosphere.

Analysis of β´(Cu4Ti) Precipitation During Isothermal Aging of a Cu-4wt.%Ti Alloy [PDF]
This work analyzed experimental and numerically the growth kinetics of β´precipitation of a Cu-4wt.%Ti alloy after aging at 400, 500 and 600 ºC for times from 0.0166 h to 200 h.

Observations of omega bands using an imaging riometer. [PDF]
We present a case study of an omega band cur- rent system from 11 May 1998 using data from the Imaging Riometer for Ionospheric Studies (IRIS) in Finland. For the first time, images of a substorm-related omega band in cos- mic noise absorption are shown.

Validating precipitation forecasts using remote sensor synergy: A case study approach
Several types of remote sensing data are applied synergistically to evaluate the chain of microphysical processes leading to precipitation in a high-resolution numerical weather prediction model.

Effect of La addition on Ag-rich phase formation and mechanical properties of Cu-2Ag alloys
A series of novel Cu-2Ag-xLa alloys with reinforced mechanical properties and enhanced electrical conductivities are developed. The effects of La addition on the microstructural features and mechanical properties of as-cast and solution treated Cu-2Ag ...

A coarsening model for coherent precipitates [PDF]
The morphological evolution of coherent inclusions in elastic media is studied in two-dimensions. The inclusions are simple dilations with isotropic surface energy in a system with homogeneous elastic constants of negative anisotropy. The equilibrium sizes at which a circular inclusion transforms to a rectangle or square, and at which a square splits ...
