Enhancing Strength and Electrical Conductivity in Al–Zr–Sc Conductor Alloys Through Sn and Sr Microalloying and Two‐Step Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Trace additions of Sn and Sr combined with a two‐step aging treatment are shown to enhance the microstructure and performance of Al–Zr–Sc conductor alloys. Strength and electrical conductivity increase concurrently through accelerated precipitation of fine Al3(Sc, Zr) precipitates and improved dislocation resistance, offering a cost‐effective pathway ...

Precipitation Estimation: From the RAO to EURAINSAT and Beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The key objective of the project "Use of the MSG SEVIRI channels in a combined SSM/I, TRMM and geostationary IR method for rapid updates of rainfall" is the development of algorithms for rapid-update of satellite rainfall estimations at the geostationary

Climate reconstruction of the Little Ice Age maximum extent of the tropical Zongo Glacier using a distributed energy balance model

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Géoscience, 2022
This study assessed the climate conditions that caused the tropical Zongo Glacier (16° S, Bolivia) to reach its Little Ice Age (LIA) maximum extent in the late 17th century.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Strain localisation and failure at twin-boundary complexions in nickel-based superalloys

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Coherent twin boundaries in nickel-based superalloys are vulnerable sites for alloy failure in demanding environments. Here, the authors show that the abnormal γ″ precipitation mechanism at twin boundaries is responsible for pronounced strain ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Coordinated Cluster, ground-based instrumentation and low-altitude satellite observations of transient poleward-moving events in the ionosphere and in the tail lobe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
During the interval between 8:00–9:30 on 14 January 2001, the four Cluster spacecraft were moving from the central magnetospheric lobe, through the dusk sector mantle, on their way towards intersecting the magnetopause near 15:00 MLT and 15:00 UT ...

Radiosounding-derived convective parameters for the Alcântara Launch Center [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Aerospace Technology and Management, 2009
Climatological features of convective parameters (K index, IK; 950 hPa K index, IK950; Showalter index, IS; lifted index, ILEV; total totals index, ITT; and convective available potential energy, CAPE) derived from 12 UTC radiosounding data collected at ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Trends in extreme daily precipitation indices in Bosnia and Herzegovina [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Geografski Fakultet Univerziteta u Beogradu, 2017
The study investigates trends in extreme daily precipitation indices in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A set of daily precipitation time series from four meteorological stations was used for the computation of 13 indices (mostly recommended by the ETCCDI ...
