Quantifying tracer dynamics in a moving fluids: A combined Eulerian-Lagrangian approach.
Eulerian models coupling physics and biology provide a powerful tool for the study of marine systems, complementing and synthesizing in situ observations and in vitro experiments.

Operations on t-structures and perverse coherent sheaves
The notions of consistent pairs and consistent chains of t-structures are introduced. A theorem that two consistent chains of t-structures generate a distributive lattice is proven.

Do Finite-Size Lyapunov Exponents Detect Coherent Structures? [PDF]
Ridges of the Finite-Size Lyapunov Exponent (FSLE) field have been used as indicators of hyperbolic Lagrangian Coherent Structures (LCSs). A rigorous mathematical link between the FSLE and LCSs, however, has been missing. Here we prove that an FSLE ridge

Reduced Models of Point Vortex Systems
Nonequilibrium statistical models of point vortex systems are constructed using an optimal closure method, and these models are employed to approximate the relaxation toward equilibrium of systems governed by the two-dimensional Euler equations, as well ...

Identification of large coherent structures in supersonic axisymmetric wakes
Direct numerical simulation data of supersonic axisymmetric wakes are analysed for the existence of large coherent structures. Wakes at Ma ¼ 2:46 are considered with results being presented for cases at Reynolds numbers ReD ¼ 30; 000 and 100,000 ...

Coherence, focus and structure [PDF]
This paper examines the usage of NE in Chinese dialogues and monologues excerpted from a Chinese collection of narratives. The analysis of NE as a constituent in discourse structure shows that linguistically it functions like a grammatical connector. From a cognitive point of view, NE signals topic shift and focuses on new, contrastive information.
