Dynamic change of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease in chronic hepatitis C patients after viral eradication: A nationwide registry study in Taiwan [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Molecular Hepatology
Background/Aims Steatotic liver disease (SLD) is a common manifestation in chronic hepatitis C (CHC). Metabolic alterations in CHC are associated with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Cohort Query Processing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Modern Internet applications often produce a large volume of user activity records. Data analysts are interested in cohort analysis, or finding unusual user behavioral trends, in these large tables of activity records. In a traditional database system, cohort analysis queries are both painful to specify and expensive to evaluate.

Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

A general semiparametric Z-estimation approach for case-cohort studies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Case-cohort design, an outcome-dependent sampling design for censored survival data, is increasingly used in biomedical research. The development of asymptotic theory for a case-cohort design in the current literature primarily relies on counting process stochastic integrals.

Targeting PRAME directly or via EZH2 inhibition overcomes retinoid resistance and represents a novel therapy for keratinocyte carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The study evaluated the function and therapeutic implications of PRAME in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The findings demonstrate that PRAME impairs keratinocyte differentiation pathways. Furthermore, PRAME impairs anticancer response to retinoid compounds in BCC and SCC cells.
