Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Prevalence and risk factors for venous thromboembolic complications in the Swiss Inflammatory Bowel Disease Cohort.

open access: yes, 2016
OBJECTIVE Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), is associated with the occurrence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

Child inhibitory control in toddlerhood: associations with child interaction skills with the mother

open access: yesBMC Psychology
Childhood inhibitory control (IC) is a key precursor of later social development, yet the mechanisms through which IC contributes to emerging interaction skills in toddlerhood remain insufficiently understood. We explored the cross-sectional associations

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

The FinnBrain multimodal neonatal template and atlas collection

open access: yesCommunications Biology
The accurate processing of neonatal and infant brain MRI data is crucial for developmental neuroscience but presents unique challenges that child and adult data do not.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Impact of screening and antiretroviral therapy on anal cancer incidence in HIV-positive MSM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUND The incidence of anal cancer is high in HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM). We modeled the impact of screening strategies and combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) coverage on anal cancer incidence in Switzerland. METHODS

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
