An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Management of Anterior Cerebral Circulation Aneurysms by Endovascular Coiling [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Arts, 2020
Background: Endovascular management of cerebral aneurysms is relatively a new modality of management in Egypt. So, studies are needed to evaluate efficacy, safety, and outcome; especially with this rapid evolution in both materials and equipment. Aim of

Structure-activity relationships of synthetic analogs of jasmonic acid and coronatine on induction of benzo[c]phenanthridine alkaloid accumulation in Eschscholzia californica cell cultures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A facile test system based on the accumulation of benzo[c]phenanthridine alkaloids in Eschscholzia californica cell suspension culture (an indicator of defense gene activation) has been used to analyze a series of synthetic compounds for elicitor-like ...

Design of a heterotetrameric coiled coil [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Science, 2009
AbstractWe have successfully designed a simple peptide sequence that forms highly stable coiled‐coil heterotetramers. Our model system is based on the GCN4‐pLI parallel coiled‐coil tetramer, first described by Kim and coworkers (Harbury et al., Science 1993;262:1401–1407). We introduced glutamates at all of the e and c heptad positions of one sequence (

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Structural specificity in coiled-coil interactions [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Structural Biology, 2008
Coiled coils have a rich history in the field of protein design and engineering. Novel structures, such as the first seven-helix coiled coil, continue to provide surprises and insights. Large-scale datasets quantifying the influence of systematic mutations on coiled-coil stability are a valuable new asset to the area.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Modeling and simulation of ridge-buckle control in the coiling process of cold rolling strips with local high points

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2015
In order to research the ridge-buckle control method in the coiling process of steel strips with local high points, elastoplastic stress and ridge-buckle models are established by using the theory of three-dimensional elastoplastic deformation and ...
