The molecular basis of the effect of temperature on enzyme activity
Experimental data show that the effect of temperature on enzymes cannot be adequately explained in terms of a two-state model based on increases in activity and denaturation.

Effects of chronic cold treatment on root elongation and gene expression in "Arabidopsis thaliana" [PDF]
Low temperature is a major limitation of plant growth. Cold adaptation is important for the survival and distribution of plant species at high elevations and high latitudes.

Active droplets through enzyme-free, dynamic phosphorylation
Life continuously transduces energy to perform critical functions using energy stored in reactive molecules like ATP or NADH. ATP dynamically phosphorylates active sites on proteins and thereby regulates their function.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Evolution of substrate specificity in a recipient's enzyme following horizontal gene transfer [PDF]
Despite the prominent role of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in shaping bacterial metabolism, little is known about the impact of HGT on the evolution of enzyme function.

Optimizing and purifying extracellular cold- active lipase from Talaromyces pinophilus AUMC 308 for potential use in industrial detergents [PDF]
In this study, a strain of Talaromyces pinophilus AUMC 308 was used. The 15th days of fermentation at pH 6.0, 15°C with ammonium chloride as the nitrogen source were shown to be the optimal settings for the synthesis of the enzyme.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

MACiE: a database of enzyme reaction mechanisms.
SUMMARY: MACiE (mechanism, annotation and classification in enzymes) is a publicly available web-based database, held in CMLReact (an XML application), that aims to help our understanding of the evolution of enzyme catalytic mechanisms and also to create
