NMR solution structure of a cold-adapted thiol-disulfide oxidoreductase [PDF]
Psychrophilic enzymes produced by cold-adapted micro-organisms have successfully overcome the low temperature challenge and adapted to maintain high catalytic rates in their permanently cold environments.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Nonreceding hare lines: genetic continuity since the Late Pleistocene in European mountain hares (Lepus timidus) [PDF]
Throughout time, climate changes have caused substantial rearrangements of habitats which have alternately promoted and disfavoured different types of taxa.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Rational engineering of a cold-adapted α-amylase from the Antarctic ciliate Euplotes focardii for simultaneous improvement of thermostability and catalytic activity [PDF]
The α-amylases are endo-acting enzyme which hydrolyze starch by randomly cleaving the 1,4-α-D-glucosidic linkages between the adjacent glucose units in linear amylose chain.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Adaptational properties and applications of cold-active lipase from psychrophilic bacteria [PDF]
Psychrophilic microorganisms are cold-adapted with distinct properties from other thermal classes thriving in cold conditions in large areas of the earth's cold environment.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
