Sustainable bioplastics manufacturing from renewable sources
Bioplastics are manufactured by using polymers from different bio‐based sources. These novel materials not only offer biodegradability but also possess various functional properties that make them suitable for diverse applications. Recent developments in the preparation of bioplastics are reported, highlighting the distinct properties of each type of ...

Surface accuracy achieved by upsetting of preforms generated by laser rod end melting
Cold forming generally allows the reproduction of parts with a high production rate and low waste of material. For this reason, many small parts for example of the body of a smartphone undergo at least one forming operation during their fabrication, e.g.

Ductile damage prediction in different cold forming processes
The purpose of the present paper is to show how and to what extent the introduction of refined, shear sensitive models improves on previous ones, based on triaxiality only, for the phenomenological description of ductile damage in bulk cold metal forming processes. Wire-drawing and wire rolling are taken as examples.

Finite-element simulation of residual stress induced by split-sleeve cold-expansion process of holes [PDF]
A three-dimensional finite-element simulation was conducted for a split-sleeve cold-expansion process in order to determine the residual stress field around an expanded hole.

ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

An investigation of a new 2D CDM model in predicting failure in HFQing of an automotive panel [PDF]
In this paper a comparative analysis of failure prediction when using the solution heat treatment cold die forming and quenching process, known as HFQ™, for forming an aluminium alloy AA6082 automotive panel part (bulkhead panel), is presented.

14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Influence of surface integrity on the plastic flow in analogous testing of 42CrMo4
Surface modification of workpieces for cold forming processes is common in industrial practice. Specific surface topographies manufactured by means of shot peening form lubricant pockets, which provide a continuous lubricating film throughout the process.
