The Chemistry of Cold, Dark Interstellar Clouds [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1987
In recent years the nearby cold, dark clouds have been shown to possess a rich chemistry, with interesting differences with respect to warmer massive-star-forming regions and also among the cold clouds themselves. 39 molecular species are now known in these regions.

Plasmon-Enhanced Enzymatic Reactions: A Study of Nanoparticle-Enzyme Distanceand Nanoparticle Loading-Dependent Enzymatic Activity

open access: yesNano Biomedicine and Engineering, 2011
A detailed investigation of the dependence of the efficiency of plasmon-enhanced enzymatic reactions on the distance between silver island films (SIFs) and horse radish peroxidase (HRP) enzyme and on the loading of SIFs on glass surfaces is presented ...

Cold-Brew Chemistry

open access: yes, 2022
Despite the growing consumption of cold-brew coffee around the world, little is known about the drink’s chemical makeup. Three researchers are helping to fill that gap with new findings on its level of beneficial antioxidants. A recent study by Niny Rao,

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

BPTF Maintains Chromatin Accessibility and the Self-Renewal Capacity of Mammary Gland Stem Cells

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2017
Chromatin remodeling is a key requirement for transcriptional control of cellular differentiation. However, the factors that alter chromatin architecture in mammary stem cells (MaSCs) are poorly understood. Here, we show that BPTF, the largest subunit of
