Lack of evidence for central sensitization in idiopathic, non-traumatic neck pain : a systematic review [PDF]
Background: Chronic neck pain is a common problem with a poorly understood pathophysiology. Often no underlying structural pathology can be found and radiological imaging findings are more related to age than to a patient's symptoms.

DNA 3 '-Phosphatase Activity Is Critical for Rapid Global Rates of Single-Strand Break Repair following Oxidative Stress [PDF]
Oxidative stress is a major source of chromosome single-strand breaks (SSBs), and the repair of these lesions is retarded in neurodegenerative disease. The rate of the repair of oxidative SSBs is accelerated by XRCC1, a scaffold protein that is essential

Doehl et al. discovered an adaptive neuroimmune mechanism that induces itch in tick‐exposed guinea pigs, enabling rapid tick removal. This itch‐induced tick removal (IITR) is mediated by an adaptive cellular immune response and is independent of IgG, IgE, or TRPV1.

VGluT3⁺ primary afferents play distinct roles in mechanical and cold hypersensitivity depending on pain etiology. [PDF]
Sensory nerve fibers differ not only with respect to their sensory modalities and conduction velocities, but also in their relative roles for pain hypersensitivity.

Crystal structure of a Fanconi anemia-associated nuclease homolog bound to 5′ flap DNA: basis of interstrand cross-link repair by FAN1 [PDF]
Fanconi anemia (FA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder caused by defects in any of 15 FA genes responsible for processing DNA interstrand cross-links (ICLs).

Cortical Somatostatin Neurons Regulate Seizure Susceptibility via MINAR1/Gαs–cAMP Signaling
Our study identifies MINAR1 as a novel regulator of cortical interneuron excitability and seizure susceptibility. MINAR1 is preferentially expressed in SST+ interneurons. Genetic ablation of MINAR1 leads to seizure hypersensitivity, reduced SST+ neuron excitability, and impaired Gαs–cAMP signaling, disrupting the E/I balance.

VAMP7 regulates constitutive membrane incorporation of the cold-activated channel TRPM8
The temperature-sensitive TRPM8 channel is essential for cold sensing and has been linked to pathological cold hypersensitivity. Here, the authors find TRPM8 insertion in the cell membrane is mediated by VAMP7 following atypical LAMP1-containing vesicle ...

Oxidative stress mediates thalidomide-induced pain by targeting peripheral TRPA1 and central TRPV4
Background The mechanism underlying the pain symptoms associated with chemotherapeutic-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is poorly understood. Transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), TRP vanilloid 4 (TRPV4), TRPV1, and oxidative stress have ...

The prevalence and predictive factors of dentine hypersensitivity among adults in Turkey
Aim This study sought to determine the prevalence of dentine hypersensitivity (DH) among adults in Turkey. Also, to ascertain the association between DH and both etiological predictors and demographic patient characteristics.
