A molecular gas phase in the Cold Neutral Medium?
I examine the possibility that the Cold Neutral Medium of the interstellar medium in galaxies contains a molecular gas phase that may represent a significant and even the dominant amount of its mass in metal-poor regions. In spiral galaxies such regions are found at large galactocentric distances where diffuse H$_2$ gas will be untraceable through its ...

EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Micro‐Raman spectroscopy is applied to characterize corrosion products in a recycled‐based MgO–316L steel composite anode after molten salt electrolysis. A depth‐dependent Fe–O/Fe–Al–O layer sequence of magnetite, hercynite, and an Al‐doped magnetite transition zone is identified.

A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

On the Existence, Rareness, and Uniqueness of Quenched H i-rich Galaxies in the Local Universe
Using data from ALFALFA, xGASS, H i -MaNGA, and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), we identify a sample of 47 “red but H i -rich” (RR) galaxies with near-UV (NUV) − r > 5 and unusually high H i -to-stellar mass ratios. We compare the optical properties

One H2 molecule per ten million H atoms reveals sub-parsec-scale cold overdensities at z ∼ 4★
We present the detection and analysis of H2 absorption at z = 4.24 towards the bright quasar J 0007−5705, which was observed with the Very Large Telescope as part of the ESPRESSO QUasar Absorption Line Survey (EQUALS). The high resolving power of R ≈ 120

The cold neutral medium (CNM) is where neutral atomic hydrogen (H i ) is converted into molecular clouds, so the structure and kinematics of the CNM are key drivers of galaxy evolution.

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Joint Analysis of H I Absorption Zeeman Measurements and the Morphology of Filamentary H I Emission
We present a joint analysis of H I absorption Zeeman measurements and the morphology of filamentary H I emission to investigate the 3D structure of the magnetic field in the diffuse neutral interstellar medium.
