Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

JWST imaging of the Pleiades: Anisotropy of turbulence in the cold neutral medium

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Interstellar medium studies rely on magnetohydrodynamic turbulence as a framework for interpretation. In this context, the statistical characterization of interstellar observations is of prime importance.

THE THERMAL PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION OF A SIMULATED COLD NEUTRAL MEDIUM

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2014
We numerically study the thermal pressure distribution in a gas with thermal properties similar to those of the cold neutral interstellar gas by analyzing three-dimensional hydrodynamic models in boxes with sides of 100 pc with turbulent compressible forcing at 50 pc and different Mach numbers. We find that at high pressures and for large Mach numbers,

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Neutral Gas Phase Distribution from H I Morphology: Phase Separation with Scattering Spectra and Variational Autoencoders

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Unraveling the multiphase structure of the diffuse interstellar medium as traced by neutral hydrogen (H i ) is essential to understanding the lifecycle of the Milky Way. However, H i phase separation is a challenging and underconstrained problem.

The effects of bathing in neutral bicarbonate ion water

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Percutaneously absorbed carbon dioxide enhances blood flow. The mechanism by which it does so is unclear, but we hypothesized that it involves bicarbonate ions.

High energy level diet improves the growth performance and rumen fermentation of yaks in cold weather

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2023
To date, no research has been done on energy requirements for yaks in Tibetan cold weather. The findings of the current study provide proper energy requirements for yaks would facilitate scientific feeding of fattening yaks in cold weather.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

A New Constraint on the Relative Disorder of Magnetic Fields between Neutral Interstellar Medium Phases

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Utilizing Planck polarized dust emission maps at 353 GHz and large-area maps of the neutral hydrogen (H i ) cold neutral medium (CNM) fraction ( f _CNM ), we investigate the relationship between dust polarization fraction ( p _353 ) and f _CNM in the ...

Distribution and Kinematics of H i through Raman He ii Spectroscopy of NGC 6302

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The young planetary nebula NGC 6302 is known to exhibit Raman-scattered He ii features at 6545 Å and 4851 Å. These features are formed through inelastic scattering of He ii λλ 1025 and 972 with hydrogen atoms in the ground state, for which the cross ...
