Cold Pool‐Land Surface Interactions in a Dry Continental Environment [PDF]
Cold pools influence convective initiation and organization, dust lofting, and boundary layer properties, but little is known about their interactions with the land surface, particularly in dry continental environments.

Particle‐Based Tracking of Cold Pool Gust Fronts [PDF]
The gust fronts of convective cold pools (CPs) are increasingly recognized as loci of enhanced triggering for subsequent convective cells. It has so far been difficult to track these gust fronts in high‐resolution data, such as large eddy simulations ...

Cold‐air pool evolution in a wide Pyrenean valley [PDF]
This study on cold‐air pool formation in the wide Cerdanya Valley in the Pyrenees mountain range was conducted using available observational information from September 2010 to August 2014. Cold‐air pools occur during almost 60% of the nights, mainly during winter. Cold pools develop even under significant synoptic pressure gradients.

AbstractThe mechanisms by which sensible heat fluxes (SHFs) alter cold pool characteristics and dissipation rates are investigated in this study using idealized two‐dimensional numerical simulations and an environment representative of daytime, dry, continental conditions.

Abstract Cold pools formed by precipitating convective clouds are an important source of mesoscale temperature variability. However, their sub‐mesoscale (100 m–10 km) structure has not been quantified, impeding validation of numerical models and understanding of their atmospheric and societal impacts. We assess temperature variability

Development and maintenance of squall line in a weak vertical wind shear environment
Based on conventional observation data, automatic weather station data and CINRAD-SA Doppler radar data, we analyzed the weather background, environmental conditions, development mechanism and the gale that caused for the squall line event on 27 May 2018

Synoptic Analysis of Upper- Cold Air Pool Effects on Generating or Intensifying Rainfall in the Warm Season in East Azerbaijan [PDF]
In synoptic meteorology, establishment of cold air masses at the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere is called cold air cell or cold air pool (Cold Pool).
