Analysis of a Wet Downburst in the Liaodong Peninsula

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang
On September 11, 2020, severe convective weather occurred in the southern part of Liaodong Peninsula, and wet downbursts appeared. The maximum surface wind gust at Dalian Jinzhou Desheng station reached 21.7 m·s-1.By using conventional observation data ...

Intra-annual genotypic patterns of growth and water use of irrigated rice in the Sahel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
With an increasing world population, the demand for rice as one of the most important staple crops is growing. Rice production can be increased either by intensification of existing or by exploitation of new and less favourable land resources.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Analysis of heavy precipitation supercell environment condition and structure in Tianjin coastal area

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2019
In the afternoon of 24 July 2016,a local short-term heavy rainfall occurred in Dagang of Tianjin. The maximum rainfall intensity was 95 mm·h-1,which broke the extreme record in the past ten years. The formation environment and structure of the supercell

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Cold tongue/Warm pool and ENSO dynamics in the Pliocene [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2011
It has been suggested that a "permanent" El Niño climate state has existed in the warm Pliocene. One of the main pieces of evidence of such conditions is the small east-west sea surface temperature (SST) difference that is found in proxy temperature ...

Are simulated aerosol-induced effects on deep convective clouds strongly dependent on saturation adjustment? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Three configurations of a bulk microphysics scheme in conjunction with a detailed bin scheme are implemented in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model to specifically address the role of the saturation adjustment assumption (i.e., condensing ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

MCS evolution and mechanism comparison in the two rainstorm events on the eastern slope of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau

open access: yes暴雨灾害
The extreme heavy rainfall weather under the long-term influence of MCS can easily cause serious disasters such as flash floods in complex terrain areas.
