Recent Advances on The Applications of Phase Change Materials in Cold Thermal Energy Storage: A Critical Review

open access: yesJournal of Composites Science, 2023
Cold thermal energy storage (CTES) based on phase change materials (PCMs) has shown great promise in numerous energy-related applications. Due to its high energy storage density, CTES is able to balance the existing energy supply and demand imbalance ...

EFFECT OF DIFFERENT STORAGE CONDITIONS ON NUTRITIONAL AND QUALITY PARAMETERS OF 'SWEETHEART' CHERRY. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The sweet cherry ‘Sweetheart’, although having a short shelf life, is highly appreciated by consumers due to its organoleptic characteristics. Different storage methods were tested to study the maintenance of quality during a period of 27 days: 1) cold ...

Ethanol Vapours to Complement or Replace Sulfur Dioxide Fumigation of Table Grapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Recent studies have shown that dipping table grapes in ethanol solutions at harvest improved storage of the fruit. We report here the first results obtained by treating "Chasselas" table grapes (Vitis vinifera) with ethanol vapours over the storage ...

Lysis of cold‐storage‐induced microvascular obstructions for ex vivo revitalization of marginal human kidneys

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Transplantation, 2020
Thousands of kidneys from higher‐risk donors are discarded annually because of the increased likelihood of complications posttransplant. Given the severe organ shortage, there is a critical need to improve utilization of these organs.

Machine perfusion preservation versus static cold storage for deceased donor kidney transplantation.

open access: yesCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2019
BACKGROUND Kidney transplantation is the optimal treatment for end-stage kidney disease. Retrieval, transport and transplant of kidney grafts causes ischaemia reperfusion injury.

Spanish experience with heart transplants from controlled donation after the circulatory determination of death using thoraco‐abdominal normothermic regional perfusion and cold storage

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Transplantation, 2020
Heart transplantation from controlled donation after the circulatory determination of death (cDCDD) may help to increase the availability of hearts for transplantation.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Evaluation on Frozen Shellfish Quality by Blockchain Based Multi-Sensors Monitoring and SVM Algorithm During Cold Storage

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
IoT-enable monitoring can provide valuable information for the shellfish quality evaluation during cold storage condition. However, IoT based information storage relies on the centralized platform, it is possible to tamper.

Coherent and Dynamic Beam Splitting based on Light Storage in Cold Atoms

open access: yes, 2016
We demonstrate a coherent and dynamic beam splitter based on light storage in cold atoms. An input weak laser pulse is first stored in a cold atom ensemble via electromagnetically-induced transparency (EIT).
