Key steps of a successful biological control against the sugarcane stemborer by inundative release of Trichogramma spp. : S1012TU08 Integrated Pest Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
For over ten years, a biological control strategy by inundative release of Trichogramma chilonis (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) against Chilo sacchariphagus (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) has been studied (French collaboration between INRA, CIRAD and FDGDON ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Comparative transcriptomic analysis of plum fruit treated with 1-MCP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Microarray technology has allowed the large scale transcriptomic analysis of fruit ripening. The μPEACH1.0 microarray containing 4,806 probes corresponding to genes expressed in peach fruit tissues has been used in a heterologous fashion in two studies ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Performance of a building integrated collector for solar heating and radiant cooling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Due to their limited temperature range, unglazed solar collectors have long been relegated to providing low cost heating in applications such as swimming pool heating systems.

Entanglement of light-shift compensated atomic spin waves with telecom light

open access: yes, 2010
Entanglement of a 795 nm light polarization qubit and an atomic Rb spin wave qubit for a storage time of 0.1 s is observed by measuring the violation of Bell's inequality (S = 2.65 \pm 0.12). Long qubit storage times are achieved by pinning the spin wave

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Apple storage in ultra-low oxygen cold store

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agricultural Research, Innovation and Technology, 2019
Apple storage under lower concentration of oxygen (1.0-1.3% in some cases lower than 1%) in controlled atmosphere cold stores is described as apple storage in ultra-low oxygen cold store.

Control of postharvest gray mold of ‘BRS Nubia’ table grape under cold storage

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2020
The demand for high-quality nutritional products has increased fruit consumption, as grapes, for this reason postharvest techniques are required to prevent losses, to preserve quality, to extend shelf life, and to attend to consumer needs.
