Morphology and Physiology Response to Stratification during Seeds Epicotyl Dormancy Breaking of Paeonia emodi Wall. ex Royle

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Paeonia emodi is a type of wild herbaceous peony with high ornamental and breeding value. Cold stratification is the only method to break its seed epicotyl dormancy to date, however, the key physiological factors during this process are not clear.

Response of the North Atlantic surface and intermediate ocean structure to climate warming of MIS 11 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Investigating past interglacial climates not only help to understand how the climate system operates in general, it also forms a vital basis for climate predictions.

Germination of Japanese Stewartia Seeds: The Effects of Warm and Cold Stratification [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Horticulture, 1999
Abstract Japanese Stewartia (Stewartia pseudocamellia (Maxim.)) is a species with outstanding landscape qualities, but is not widely available because reliable propagation protocols have not been developed, including procedures for overcoming seed dormancy.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Acid Scarification Completes the Germination of Hovenia dulcis Seeds

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Seeds have been reported to have a combination of physical and physiological dormancy. However, this study revealed that H. dulcis seeds only have physical dormancy. The water absorption of the seeds after different periods of sulfuric acid scarification

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Dormancy breaking and seed germination of the annual weeds Thlaspi arvense, Descurainia sophia and Malcolmia africana (Brassicaceae)

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection Research, 2014
In Iran, Descurainia sophia, Malcolmia africana, and Thlaspi arvense are abundantly found as importunate weeds in winter cereal. Understanding the timing of seed germination under natural conditions is crucial for learning how to manage these annual ...

The Effect of Different Stratification Media and Temperature Applications on Seed Germination and Seedling Growing in Rosehip (Rosa canina L.)

open access: yesYüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tarim Bilimleri Dergisi, 2021
In this study, the effects of different stratification media (sand, peat, vermiculite and vermicompost) and different temperature degrees (warm + cold) on the germination rate and seedling growth of rosehip seeds were investigated. This study was carried

Numerical Simulation of Thermal Stratification in Cold Legs by Using OpenFOAM

open access: yesProgress in Nuclear Science and Technology, 2011
*,† During a small-break loss-of-coolant accident in pressurized water reactors (PWRs), emergency core cooling system (ECCS) is actuated and cold water is injected into cold legs. Insufficient mixing of injected cold water and hot primary coolant results in thermal stratification, which is a matter of concern for evaluation of pressurized thermal shock

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
