How consistent are the transcriptome changes associated with cold acclimation in two species of the Drosophila virilis group? [PDF]
This work was financially support by a Marie Curie Initial Training Network grant, “Understanding the evolutionary origin of biological diversity” (ITN-2008–213780 SPECIATION), grants from the Academy of Finland to A.H.

Evaluation of cold tolerance in winter sowing of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) using morphological and phenological traits in Kurdistan region [PDF]
Winter sown chickpeas produce more yields in comparison with spring type. This function is hampered by the sensitivity of the crop to low temperature. In order to study and identify high yielding and cold tolerant chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) lines, 65 ...

Enhanced levels of cold shock proteins in Listeria monocytogenes LO28 upon exposure to low temperature and high hydrostatic pressure [PDF]
Listeria monocytogenes is a psychrotrophic food-borne pathogen that is problematic for the food industry because of its ubiquitous distribution in nature and its ability to grow at low temperatures and in the presence of high salt concentrations.

Recent Advances in the Analysis of Cold Tolerance in Maize
Maize (Zea mays L.) is an annual grass that originated in tropical and subtropical regions of the New World. Maize is highly sensitive to cold stress during seed gemination and the seedling phase, which can lead to reductions in plant vigor and grain ...

Inducing Cold-Sensitivity in the Frigophilic Fly Drosophila montana by RNAi. [PDF]
Cold acclimation is a critical physiological adaptation for coping with seasonal cold. By increasing their cold tolerance individuals can remain active for longer at the onset of winter and can recover more quickly from a cold shock.

Research advance on cold tolerance in chrysanthemum
Chrysanthemums are one of the top ten most well-known traditional famous flowers in China and one of the top four cut flowers worldwide, holding a significant position in landscape gardening. The cold temperatures of winter restrict the cultivation, introduction, and application of chrysanthemum, resulting in high costs for year-round production.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
