Detección de virus entéricos en un sistema piloto de tratamiento de aguas residuales municipales

open access: yesKasmera, 2014
: A pilot system for treating municipal waste was evaluated to verify its ability to remove viral pathogens. The presence of Adenovirus, Calicivirus, Enterovirus and Hepatitis A and E was determined using RT-PCR.

Water and Wastewater Disinfection with Peracetic Acid and UV Radiation and Using Advanced Oxidative Process PAA/UV

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2015
The individual methods of disinfection peracetic acid (PAA) and UV radiation and combined process PAA/UV in water (synthetic) and sanitary wastewater were employed to verify the individual and combined action of these advanced oxidative processes on the ...

Global occurrence of Torque teno virus in water systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Bacterial indicator organisms are used globally to assess the microbiological safety of waters. However, waterborne viral outbreaks have occurred in drinking water systems despite negative bacterial results. Using viral markers may therefore provide more

Biochemical Characterization of RNA Coliphage MX1

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1983
In order to clarify the taxonomic status of an RNA coliphage, MX1 (a serological intermediate between groups III and IV), we examined (i) read-through protein synthesis in a cell-free protein-synthesizing system, (ii) the peptide map of the coat protein and (iii) the RNA sequence in the 3'-terminal region of MX1 RNA.

Oral Phage Therapy of Acute Bacterial Diarrhea With Two Coliphage Preparations: A Randomized Trial in Children From Bangladesh

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2016
Background: Antibiotic resistance is rising in important bacterial pathogens. Phage therapy (PT), the use of bacterial viruses infecting the pathogen in a species-specific way, is a potential alternative.

Recovery of somatic coliphages in shellfish

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1995
A phage recovery technique is described that is shown to be easy to perform and sensitive. It is efficient in detecting somatic coliphages in mussels artificially contaminated, even at very low levels. Good results are also reported for detection and enumeration of naturally occurring coliphages in mussels and cockles from the French Atlantic coast.
