Matrix Tropism Influences Endometriotic Cell Attachment Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of substrate stiffness and multicellular coculture on endometriotic cell attachment to extracellular matrix‐laden microarrayed islands is reported. This model investigates early endometriotic cell attachment, aiming to capture “lesion initiation events”.

Ecofriendly and sustainable metal-free leather tanning using novel poly(carbamoyl sulfonate) technology

open access: yesCollagen and Leather
Despite its potential as a metal-free tanning agent capable of eliminating Cr pollution in the leather industry, the conventional preparation of poly(carbamoyl sulfonate) faces challenges, such as the extensive use of low-boiling organic solvents and low

Precise Quantification of Angiogenesis in 3D Biomaterials Using in Vitro CAM Models: Enhancing 3Rs in Research and Minimizing in Vivo Dependency

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study develops elastin–fibrin scaffolds and evaluates angiogenesis using the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model. Advanced imaging with confocal microscopy and Indocyanine Green dye enables precise 3D quantification of vascular networks. Findings demonstrate superior microvessel visualization compared to micro‐CT using Microfil and Optiray 350 ...

Nanofillers Reinforcing Biopolymer Composites for Sustainable Food Packaging Applications: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biopolymers are sustainable, biodegradable alternatives to petroleum‐based plastics for food packaging. Its adoption is often limited by poor mechanical strength, barrier properties, and improved thermal stability through the incorporation of nanofillers.

Development of cinnamon essential oil-loaded Pickering emulsions stabilized by chitosan/gelatin nanoparticles with enhanced antibacterial and antibiofilm actives

open access: yesCollagen and Leather
Bacterial biofilm infection is a complicated and important global problem. Non-toxic biomass-based Pickering emulsions as an essential oil delivery system are a potentially effective means in biofilm treatment.

Magnetically Guided Mechanoactive Mineralization Scaffolds for Enhanced Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed ‘rebar‐concrete’ inspired scaffold (PGS‐P@MGel) synergizes spontaneous biomineralization with magneto‐mechanical stimulation through PDA@Fe3O4‐embedded hydrogel. This dual biointerface activates Piezo1/β‐catenin/YAP mechanotransduction axis, enhancing BMSCs osteogenesis and angiogenesis simultaneously.
