Collagen type III glomerulopathy: a new type of hereditary nephropathy
Pediatric Nephrology, 1993A new type of hereditary glomerulopathy was observed in ten children presenting with early and progressive glomerular symptoms, often associated with hypertension. Light microscopy showed a diffuse increase in the mesangial matrix and generalized widening of the capillary walls.

Influence of Fibronectin on the Fibrillogenesis of Type I and Type III Collagen
Collagen and Related Research, 1987The in vitro self-assembly of type I and type III calf skin collagen in the presence of fibronectin was studied turbidimetrically. Fibronectin delayed the fibrillogenesis of type III collagen but accelerated that of type I collagen. The effect of fibronectin was concentration-dependent.

Serum concentration of type IV collagen peptide, the 7S domain of type IV collagen (type IV collagen 7S) and the amino terminal propeptide of type III procollagen (type III procollagen peptide) is thought to be a useful marker of progressive liver disease.

Collagen mRNA levels in the gingival cells of molars and incisors in rats were measured and correlated with the ratio of interstitial collagen to DNA in these regions. Hybridization of 32Pālabeled specific cDNA probes for collagen types I and III with total RNA isolated from gingival tissue of rat molars and incisors showed that the steadystate levels ...

Overproduction of extracellular matrix (ECM) is considered to be primarily responsible for both glomerular and tubulointerstitial (TI) changes in diabetic nephropathy (DN). To clarify the possible role of the collagens in TI damage in DN, type III interstitial collagen and type IV basement membrane collagen were studied in 10 cases of DN and 10 control

Abstract Types I and III collagens were solubilized from fetal human skin by limited digestion with pepsin and precipitated by dialysis against 0.02 M Na 2 HPO 4 . Heat denaturation of the collagens in 2 M guanidine-HCl, pH 7.5, resulted in the precipitation of the contaminant pepsin which could be removed by centrifugation.
