The Gilmore-NASG model to predict single-bubble cavitation in compressible liquids

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2021
The Gilmore model is combined with the Noble-Abel-stiffened-gas (NASG) equation of state to yield a simple model to predict the expansion and collapse of spherical bubbles based on real gas thermodynamics.

Gravitational collapse with equation of state

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate here gravitational collapse of a perfect fluid with a linear isentropic equation of state $p = k ρ$. A class of collapse models is given which is a family of solutions to Einstein equations and the final fate of collapse is analyzed in terms of the formation of black holes and naked singularities.

Strong collapse turbulence in a quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2011
We consider the quintic one dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with forcing and both linear and nonlinear dissipation. Quintic nonlinearity results in multiple collapse events randomly distributed in space and time forming forced turbulence.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Prediction of the Collapse Region Induced by a Concealed Karst Cave above a Deep Highway Tunnel

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
The presence of a concealed karst cave above a deep highway tunnel may cause the collapse of the rock mass between the karst cave and tunnel during excavation. Rock mass collapse threatens the safety of tunnel construction personnel.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Gravitational Collapse and Singularity Removal in Rastall Theory

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2021
In the present work, we study spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a homogeneous fluid in the framework of Rastall gravity. Considering a nonlinear equation of state (EoS) for the fluid profiles, we search for a class of nonsingular collapse ...

Similarity solutions and collapse in the attractive Gross-Pitaevskii equation

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2000
We analyse a generalised Gross-Pitaevskii equation involving a paraboloidal trap potential in $D$ space dimensions and generalised to a nonlinearity of order $2n+1$. For {\em attractive} coupling constants collapse of the particle density occurs for $Dn\ge 2$ and typically to a $δ$-function centered at the origin of the trap.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
