Association of Collateral Status and Ischemic Core Growth in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke
Neurology, 2020Objective To test the hypothesis that patients with acute ischemic stroke with poorer collaterals would have faster ischemic core growth, we included 2 cohorts in the study: cohort 1 of 342 patients for derivation and cohort 2 of 414 patients for ...

AbstractThis paper presents a model economy with endogenous credit constraints à la Kiyotaki-Moore and endogenous growth à la Uzawa-Lucas, in which agents face a trade-off between investing resources to improve the pledgeability of collateral assets and the accumulation of human capital. The model generates both growth miracles and stagnant economies.

This paper presents a simple equilibrium model in which collateralized credit emerges endogenously. Just like in repos, individuals cannot commit to the use of collateral as a guarantee of repayment, and both lenders and borrowers have incentives to renege. Our theory provides a micro-foundation to justify the borrowing constraints that are widely used

Creditor Rights and Innovation: Evidence from Patent Collateral
Journal of Financial Economics, 2017I show that patents are pledged as collateral to raise significant debt financing, and that the pledgeability of patents contributes to the financing of innovation.

I provide the first systematic analysis of collateral choices in one of the main short-term funding markets, the repurchase agreement (repo) market. In repos, long-term bonds serve as collateral connecting short-term and long-term funding markets. In general collateral repos, banks can choose from a list of eligible bonds.

This chapter looks at the surprising brittleness of AI and the way its reliance on proxies and shortcuts haunts its social application. It critiques the post-hoc attempts to ‘fix’ AI’s damaging effects through ethics, regulation or human intervention, and focuses on the way AI not only produces discrimination but intensifies existing structural ...

In this paper we study how the use of collateral is evolving under the influence of regulatory reform and changing market structure. We start with a critical review of the recent empirical literature on the supply and demand of collateral which has focussed on the issue of ‘collateral scarcity’.

Students take engineering courses to learn techniques for solving problems. Thus, most engineering courses taken by undergraduate students are highly technical in nature. But, there are many additional techniques and skills that can be learned along the way.

Septal collateralization: Demonstration of canine intramyocardial collaterals
American Journal of Anatomy, 1989AbstractThe anatomical distribution of intra‐myocardial collateral arteries that develop from the septal to the other major coronary arteries was studied in dogs following gradual Ameroid occlusion of tftt circumflex artery. The septal artery was cannulated and injected with Batson's plastic compound resulting in a cast of the coronary circulation ...
