Quantum fluid effects and parametric instabilities in microcavities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present a description of the non-equilibrium properties of a microcavity polariton fluid, injected by a nearly-resonant continuous wave pump laser.

Design of the Collective Thomson Scattering System on HL-3 tokamak [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
A collective Thomson scattering (CTS) diagnostic system is being developed to measure fastion velocity distribution on HL-3 tokamak. A 140 GHz gyrotron belonging to electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) system would be used to generate probe beam ...

Role of non-collective excitations in subbarrier fusion reactions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
We carry out a large scale coupled-channels calculations in order to discuss the effect of non-collective excitations on heavy-ion fusion and quasi-elastic scattering at subbarrier energies. To this end, we take into account all the states in 208Pb below

Detection of nanoparticles suspended in a light scattering medium

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Intentionally intensifying the light scattering of medium molecules can allow the detection of suspended nanoparticles under conditions not suitable for conventional optical microscopies or laser particle counters. Here, we demonstrate how the collective

Collective excitations on a surface of topological insulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study collective excitations in a helical electron liquid on a surface of three-dimensional topological insulator. Electron in helical liquid obeys Dirac-like equation for massless particless and direction of its spin is strictly determined by its ...

Collective stimulated Brillouin scatter

open access: yes, 2011
We develop a statistical theory of stimulated Brillouin backscatter (BSBS) of a spatially and temporally partially incoherent laser beam for laser fusion relevant plasma. We find a new collective regime of BSBS which has a much larger threshold than the classical threshold of a coherent beam in long-scale-length laser fusion plasma.

Symmetries in the collective excitations of an electron gas in core-shell nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the collective excitations and inelastic light scattering cross-section of an electron gas confined in a GaAs/AlGaAs coaxial quantum well. These system can be engineered in a core-multi-shell nanowire and inherit the hexagonal symmetry of the ...

Random light scattering by collections of ellipsoids

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
Theory of weak scattering of random optical fields from deterministic collections of particles with soft ellipsoidal scattering potentials of arbitrary shapes and orientations is developed. Far-field intensity distribution produced on scattering is shown to be influenced by source correlation properties as well as by a number, shapes and orientations ...

Surface collective excitations in ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy of metal nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2000
The role of surface collective excitations in the electron relaxation in small metal particles is studied. It is shown that the dynamically screened electron-electron interaction in a nanoparticle contains a size-dependent correction induced by the ...

Experimental mapping of short-wavelength phonons in proteins

open access: yesThe Innovation, 2022
Phonons are quasi-particles, observed as lattice vibrations in periodic materials, that often dampen in the presence of structural perturbations. Nevertheless, phonon-like collective excitations exist in highly complex systems, such as proteins, although
