The upgraded Collective Thomson Scattering diagnostics of FTU

open access: yesFusion Engineering and Design, 2015
The 140 GHz Collective Thomson Scattering (CTS) diagnostics installed on the Frascati Tokamak Upgrade (FTU) has been upgraded. The new system now is ready both to detect the thermal CTS radiation (for the first time with the probe frequency below the 1st harmonic electron cyclotron resonance) and to study the impact of possible parametric decay ...

Rare‐Earth Yttrium Doping Advances High‐Performance AgSbTe2 Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Y‐doped AgSbTe2 achieves band and microstructure co‐optimization, with coherent Y‐Ag2Te interfaces enhancing phonon scattering and reducing lattice thermal conductivity to 0.26 W m−1 K−1. Combined with valence‐band broadening and increased carrier concentration, this yields ZT ≈ 2 at 623 K, average ZT = 1.5, and 7.3 % conversion efficiency of a single ...

Design of the collective Thomson scattering diagnostics for Large Helical Device using a quasi-optical frequency tunable gyrotron as a radiation source [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Collective Thomson scattering technique based on high power laser has already proved its ability in measuring the ion (bulk and fast) temperature (Ti) in fusion plasma devices like tokamaks and stellarators.

Orientational Effects in the Low Pair Continuum of Aluminium

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We compare the predictions of the dynamic structure factor (DSF) of ambient polycrystalline aluminium from time‐dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) in the pair continuum regime to recent ultrahigh resolution x‐ray Thomson scattering measurements, collected at the European XFEL.

Velocity-space tomography of fusion plasmas by collective Thomson scattering of gyrotron radiation

open access: yes, 2016
We propose a diagnostic capable of measuring 2D fast-ion velocity distribution functions 푓2퐷푣 in the MeV-range in magnetized fusion plasmas. Today velocity-space tomography based on fast-ion D훼 spectroscopy is regularly used to measure 푓2퐷푣 for ion ...

Core ion measurements with collective Thomson scattering for DEMO burn control

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
DEMO burn control will require measurements of a range of plasma parameters, but the suite of feasible diagnostics for this purpose is limited. Here we assess the accuracy with which a collective Thomson scattering (CTS) diagnostic can provide key ...
