105-GHz Notch Filter Design for Collective Thomson Scattering [PDF]

open access: yesFusion Science and Technology, 2011
A millimeter-wave notch filter with 105-GHz center frequency, >20-GHz passband coverage, and 1-GHz rejection bandwidth has been constructed. The design is based on a fundamental rectangular waveguide with cylindrical cavities coupled by narrow iris gaps, i.e., small elongated holes of negligible thickness.

Recovering non-Maxwellian particle velocity distribution functions from collective Thomson-scattered spectra

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
Collective optical Thomson scattering (TS) is a diagnostic commonly used to characterize plasma parameters. These parameters are typically extracted by a fitting algorithm that minimizes the difference between a measured scattered spectrum and an ...

Collision correction on collective Thomson scattering spectra and its application in inertial confinement fusion hohlraum plasmas [PDF]

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
Collective Thomson scattering (CTS) is crucial for inertial confinement fusion (ICF) hohlraum diagnostics, but measurement of the electron plasma wave (EPW) feature remains challenging.

Side emissions during EC injection for PDI studies in FTU tokamak [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
The evidence of Parametric Decay Instabilities (PDI) excited by the ECH power injected in O-Mode has been explored in FTU Tokamak, using the Collective Thomson Scattering (CTS) diagnostic.

Effects of relativistic electrons on the calculated collective Thomson scattered spectra [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 1995
The effects of relativistic electrons on the spectral density function {ital S}({bold k},{omega}) are evaluated in the collective Thomson scattering regime for ion diagnostics. An electromagnetic code that calculates the electron density fluctuation term of {ital S}({bold k},{omega}) has been modified by treating the electrons with a relativistic ...

Collective Thomson scattering diagnostic with in situ calibration system for velocity space analysis in large helical device

open access: yes, 2022
0000-0002-2752-3333A collective Thomson scattering (CTS) diagnostic with a ±3 GHz band around a 77 GHz gyrotron probe beam was developed to measure the velocity distribution of bulk and fast ions in high-temperature plasmas.

Design and development of the ITER CTS diagnostic [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
The Collective Thomson Scattering (CTS) diagnostic will be a primary diagnostic for measuring the dynamics of the confined fusion born alpha particles in ITER and will be the only diagnostic for alphas below 1.7 MeV [1].

Mode-Converting Corrugations for Cavities of Second-Harmonic Gyrotrons with Improved Performance

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2021
A new method of improving mode selection in cavities of sub-terahertz second-harmonic gyrotrons is investigated. As an example, a second-harmonic gyrotron with frequency of 0.3 THz is considered. The gyrotron is designed for collective Thomson scattering
