Comparisons of profiles of the electron temperature (Te), density (ne) and pressure (pe) measured with Divertor Thomson Scattering in DIII-D low-confinement mode discharges to predictions from the edge fluid code EDGE2D-EIRENE [1] show that the models ...

Two-Dimensional Thomson Scattering in Laser-Produced Plasmas
We present two-dimensional (2D) optical Thomson scattering measurements of electron density and temperature in laser-produced plasmas. The novel instrument directly measures ne(x,y) and Te(x,y) in two dimensions over large spatial regions (cm2) with sub ...

154 GHz Collective Thomson Scattering in LHD
Collective Thomson scattering (CTS) was developed by using a 154 GHz gyrotron, and the first data has been obtained. Already, 77 GHz CTS has worked successfully. However, in order to access higher density region, 154 GHz option enhances the usability that reduces the refraction effect, which deteriorates in the local measurements.

Collective Thomson scattering system for determination of ion properties in a high flux plasma beam [PDF]
A collective Thomson scattering system has been developed for measuring ion temperature, plasma velocity and impurity concentration in the high density magnetized Magnum-PSI plasma beam, allowing for measurements at low temperature (4 x 10 20m3,while ...

Material assessment for ITER's collective Thomson Scattering first mirror [PDF]
ITER's Collective Thomson Scattering (CTS) system is a diagnostic instrument that will measure the plasma density and velocity through Thomson scattering of microwave radiation. Some of the key components of the CTS are quasioptical mirrors used to produce astigmatic beam patterns, which have impact on the strength and spatial resolution of the ...

Lattice design and beam dynamics of a storage ring for a Thomson scattering x-ray source
TTX-II (Tsinghua Thomson Scattering X-Ray Source Phase II) is a Thomson scattering based x-ray source currently under development at the accelerator laboratory in Tsinghua University. The circumference of the storage ring is 5.668 m.

Collective Thomson scattering model for arbitrarily drifting bi-Maxwellian velocity distributions
In this paper we derive the equations of collective Thomson scattering (CTS) for an arbitrarily drifting magnetized plasma described by a bi-Maxwellian distribution.

Simulation of the interaction of intense ultrashort X-ray laser pulses with micro-sized Al targets
We study the interaction of extremely short and high-intensity X-ray pulses with a 1.0μm thick Al foil. Four pulse lengths – 100 fs, 200 fs, 300 fs, and 400 fs – are considered. The photon energy is 1830 eV and the pulse intensity is 1017W/cm2.

Progress of microwave collective Thomson scattering in LHD [PDF]
Microwave collective Thomson scattering (CTS) by using a 77 GHz gyrotron is routinely working in LHD and the improvements of the system is now underway. The targets of this diagnostic are measurements of energetic fast ion distribution and ion ratio.

Design and performance of the collective Thomson scattering receiver at ASDEX Upgrade [PDF]
Here we present the design of the fast-ion collective Thomson scattering receiver for millimeter wave radiation installed at ASDEX Upgrade, a tokamak for fusion plasma experiments. The receiver can detect spectral power densities of a few eV against the electron cyclotron emission background on the order of 100 eV under presence of gyrotron stray ...
