AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Synergism and antagonism in intestinal microbial communities in closed organized collectives
Introduction. The gut microbiota represents the largest part of the entire human microbiome. The formation of a stable microbiota begins at childbirth, continuing to change during life influenced by various exogenous and hereditary factors.

Theoretical investigation into the origins of multicellularity : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of PhD in Theoretical Biology at Massey University, Albany, New Zealand [PDF]
Evolution of multicellularity is a major event in the history of life. The first step is the emergence of collectives of cooperating cells. Cooperation is generally costly to cooperators, thus, non-cooperators have a selective advantage. I investigated

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Success factors for farming collectives [PDF]
As the most intensive form of partnership in agriculture, farming collectives (FCs) place high demands on their participants. Based on a census of Swiss farming collectives, three success indicators are formed. The first and second describe interpersonal
