ESI‐MS‐Visualization of Cyanoarene Photocatalysts by Specific Supramolecular Interaction with Br‐Anion

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, EarlyView.
This study develops a convenient approach to investigate cyanoarene photocatalysts with anion‐enhanced detection AED‐ESI‐HRMS through the signal‐amplified interaction with bromide anions. By combining supramolecular chemistry, DFT calculations, and mass spectrometry, we uncover a novel approach for tracking photocatalyst transformations and elucidating

Exploring the Adsorption and Reactions of Methyl Radicals on M(111) Surfaces (M=Cu, Ag, Au): A DFT Study

open access: yesChemPhysChem, EarlyView.
Methyl radicals, in both aqueous and gaseous phases, spontaneously adsorb onto M(111) (M=Cu, Ag, Au) surfaces. The adsorbed radicals react via the Langmuir‐Hinshelwood mechanism only on gold and silver surfaces at high coverage to produce ethane. Additionally, an Eley‐Rideal mechanism is also possible, producing ethane on Ag(111) and Au(111), and ...

Effect of Excitation Wavelength in Single‐Molecule Photochemistry of Terrylene

open access: yesChemPhysChem, EarlyView.
Single‐molecule fluorescence microscopy of terrylene shows changes of the fluorescence color from yellow to green along with its photooxidation. The reaction path circumventing the endoperoxide as intermediate among the bifurcated reaction mechanism is boosted with short wavelength excitation and hints to a preformed complex of the aromatic compound ...

A Direct Measurement of the Absolute Energies of Protonated Gly‐Pro‐Gly‐Gly Conformations using Ion Mobility Spectrometry and Guided Ion Beam Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Accepted Article.
Threshold collision‐induced dissociation of conformations selected by ion mobility spectrometry is described as a method to determine their absolute relative energies. Here, the method is demonstrated with the cis and trans conformers of the protonated tetrapeptide, Gly‐Pro‐Gly‐Gly, which differ in the orientation of the peptide bond at the proline ...

Novel DMAP@Mesoporous Silica Hybrid Heterogeneous Catalysts for the Knoevenagel Condensation: Greener Synthesis through Eco‐friendly Solvents

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
This study presents a sustainable approach to functionalizing DMAP by introducing an aminomethyl group for stable anchoring on mesoporous silica supports, creating an effective, recyclable hybrid catalyst. Characterized by techniques like XRD, TGA, and FT‐IR, the hybrid retained stability and showed strong catalytic performance for the Knoevenagel ...

Identifying Key Physical Properties of Simple Organic Drop Cast Films that give Visible to Ultraviolet Light Up‐Conversion

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, EarlyView.
Simple dropcast films demonstrate up‐conversion emission from blue to ultraviolet. The low concentration of the sensitizer CBDAC and the π‐stacking of the annihilator PPO – prevented by the TIPS side groups in the TTA‐inactive TIPS‐naphthalene films – are crucial for efficient triplet diffusion and up‐conversion.
