Efficient simulations of charged colloidal dispersions: A density functional approach [PDF]
A numerical method is presented for first-principle simulations of charged colloidal dispersions in electrolyte solutions. Utilizing a smoothed profile for colloid-solvent boundaries, efficient mesoscopic simulations are enabled for modeling dispersions of many colloidal particles exhibiting many-body electrostatic interactions.

Deck the Walls with Anisotropic Colloids in Nematic Liquid Crystals. [PDF]
Nematic liquid crystals (NLCs) offer remarkable opportunities to direct colloids to form complex structures. The elastic energy field that dictates colloid interactions is determined by the NLC director field, which is sensitive to and can be controlled ...

Sedimentation of active colloidal suspensions
In this paper, we investigate experimentally the non-equilibrium steady state of an active colloidal suspension under gravity field. The active particles are made of chemically powered colloids, showing self propulsion in the presence of an added fuel ...

Dynamic interfaces for contact-time control of colloidal interactions [PDF]
Understanding multibody interactions between colloidal particles out of equilibrium has a profound impact on dynamical processes such as colloidal self assembly. However, traditional colloidal interactions are effectively quasi-static on colloidal timescales and cannot be modulated out of equilibrium.

This study explores geometry‐driven phase evolution in gyroid shell metamaterials made via laser powder bed fusion of 17‐4 precipitation hardened stainless steel. Locally hardened regions develop along the primary loading paths in the structure, which finite element analysis and geometric considerations link to enhanced gyroid strength.

Stroboscopic detection of multi-colloidal hydrodynamics using time-multiplexed optical tweezers [PDF]
Time-division multiplexing presents an attractive opportunity to probe multi-colloidal interactions in optical traps at short time-scales. In this paper, we demonstrate a stroboscopic system capable of arbitrary control of multiple trapped colloids with sensing at kHz rates and validate it using several simple multi-colloidal experiments.
