COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Changes in Subcellular Localization of Host Proteins Induced by Plant Viruses

open access: yesViruses, 2021
Viruses are dependent on host factors at all parts of the infection cycle, such as translation, genome replication, encapsidation, and cell-to-cell and systemic movement.

Loss of strumpellin in the melanocytic lineage impairs the WASH Complex but does not affect coat colour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The five-subunit WASH complex generates actin networks that participate in endocytic trafficking, migration and invasion in various cell types. Loss of one of the two subunits WASH or strumpellin in mice is lethal, but little is known about their role in

Impact of admixture and ancestry on eQTL analysis and GWAS colocalization in GTEx

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2019
Population structure among study subjects may confound genetic association studies, and lack of proper correction can lead to spurious findings. The Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) project largely contains individuals of European ancestry, but the v8 ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Metformin Therapeutic Targets for Aortic Aneurysms: A Mendelian Randomization and Colocalization Study

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Background: Identifying effective pharmacological interventions to prevent the progressive enlargement and rupture of aortic aneurysms (AAs) is critical. Previous studies have suggested links between metformin use and a decreased incidence of AAs.

Cellular distribution of the prion protein in palatine tonsils of mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus) and Rocky Mountain elk (Cervus elaphus nelsoni) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is a transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) that affects members of the Cervidae family, including deer (Odocoileus spp.), elk (Cervus Canadensis spp.), and moose (Alces alces spp.).

Distance matters: the impact of gene proximity in bacterial gene regulation

open access: yes, 2013
Following recent discoveries of colocalization of downstream-regulating genes in living cells, the impact of the spatial distance between such genes on the kinetics of gene product formation is increasingly recognized.

Colocalization Analysis in Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yes, 2012
The measurement of colocalization requires images of two fluorophores that are aligned, with no cross talk, and that the intensities remain within the response range of the microscope. Quantitation depends upon differentiating between the presence and absence of fluorescence, and measurements should be made within biologically relevant regions of ...

Integrating molecular QTL data into genome-wide genetic association analysis: Probabilistic assessment of enrichment and colocalization

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2016
We propose a novel statistical framework for integrating genetic data from molecular quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping into genome-wide genetic association analysis of complex traits, with the primary objectives of quantitatively assessing the ...
