Colon capsule endoscopy for inflammatory bowel disease

Journal of Digestive Diseases, 2018
Colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) is designed for direct visualization of the colonic mucosa through passive propulsion. The role of CCE in the detection of colonic polyps has been extensively evaluated. As mucosal healing has emerged as a pivotal target for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), there is increasing data to suggest that CCE can ...

Colon capsule endoscopy: the evidence is piling up

Gut, 2021
We read with interest the multicentre comparison study by Cash et al on the diagnostic yield (DY) of colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) versus CT colonography (CTC) in a screening population.1 Out of 320 enrolled, data from 286 (89.4%) subjects were evaluated. CCE was superior to CTC in the detection of polyps ≥6 mm and non-inferior for polyps ≥10 mm.

Accuracy of colon capsule endoscopy for advanced neoplasia

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2020
Second-generation colon capsule endoscopy (CCE-2) has shown promising accuracy for the diagnosis of overall neoplasia. Advanced neoplasia (AN) represents the main target of colorectal cancer screening programs. Our aim was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of CCE-2 for the detection of AN in patients with a positive result for the fecal immunochemical ...

Colon Capsule and the Future of Capsule Endoscopy

2017
In the preceding chapters, we have reviewed the clinical applications and important impact that small bowel capsule endoscopy has had in revolutionizing visualization of the small bowel mucosa. This has allowed for refinement of treatment algorithms, earlier therapeutic interventions in the treatment of small bowel diseases, as well as reclassification

Artificial Intelligence-Supported Colon Capsule Endoscopy

Artificial intelligence (AI) is gaining territory in many areas of the healthcare system and the endoscopy scene is no exception. In both small bowel and colon capsule endoscopy, several tasks are targets for the development of AI algorithms meant for supporting clinicians in capsule reading, reporting and patient management. Areas of interest, to name

[COLON CAPSULE ENDOSCOPY IN CLINICAL EXPERIENCE].

Eksperimental'naia i klinicheskaia gastroenterologiia = Experimental & clinical gastroenterology, 2016
Is to evaluate technical aspects and feasibility of colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) in the daily clinical practice. From I.2014 to VIII.2014 we performed 36 (97.3%) CCE from 37 patients (m-19, f-17, mean age 43.9 ± 14.2 years, range 22-72).Total CCE was performed in 33 (89.2%) patients.
