A Case of Myeloid Sarcoma of Intestine

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Gastroenterology, 2016
Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is an extramedullary involvement of immature myeloid proliferation. An isolated MS is defined as a myeloblastic tumor when it arises without any concomitant circulating disease.

Multi‐omic profiling of squamous cell lung cancer identifies metabolites and related genes associated with squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

Pedunculated Cecal Lipoma Causing Colo-Colonic Intussusception: A Rare Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Surgery, 2012
Colonic lipomas are uncommon nonepithelial neoplasms that are typically sessile, asymptomatic and incidentally found during endoscopy, surgery, or autopsy.

Intussusception Caused by Colon Cancer in Pregnancy

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Gastroenterology, 2019
Intussusception is a common in pediatric age group. But it is rare in adults. And intussusception caused by tumor account for 1% of bowel obstructions in adult. Intussusception is an extremely rare cause of abdominal pain in pregnancy.

The ACCEPTance of automation: refining circulating tumor cells enumeration for improved metastatic colorectal cancer prognosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the potential of automated enumeration using the ACCEPT software to refine circulating tumor cell (CTC) detection in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The automated method demonstrates improved accuracy and reduced variability compared to the manual approach.

Estradiol regulates miR-135b and mismatch repair gene expressions via estrogen receptor-β in colorectal cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Estrogen has anti-colorectal cancer effects which are thought to be mediated by mismatch repair gene (MMR) activity. Estrogen receptor (ER) expression is associated with microRNA (miRNA) expression in ER-positive tumors.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Colon lesions in elderly individuals with positive and negative fecal immunochemical test results among PERSIAN Guilan cohort study (PGCS) population [PDF]

open access: yesCaspian Journal of Internal Medicine
Background: Early colorectal cancer (CRC) detection helps reduce the mortality rate. This study aimed to investigate colon lesions in individuals with positive and negative fecal immunochemical test (FIT) results among the (PERSIAN) Guilan cohort study ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...
