For the imaging signal processing (ISP) pipeline of digital image devices, it is of high significance to remove undesirable illuminant effects and obtain color invariance, commonly known as ‘computational color constancy’.

Mechanisms of color constancy [PDF]
We develop a model of how the visual system finds the colors of objects that have unknown shapes and positions. The model relies on mechanisms of light adaptation, coupled with eye movements, to recover three descriptors of surface reflectance that are represented in the signals of an achromatic mechanism and two color-opponent mechanisms.

The von Kries hypothesis and a basis for color constancy [PDF]
Color constancy is almost exclusively modeled with diagonal transforms. However, the choice of basis under which diagonal transforms are taken is traditionally ad hoc.

Robust categorical color constancy along daylight locus in red-green color deficiency.
Categorical color constancy in normal trichromats has been found to be very robust in real scenes. In this study, we investigated categorical color constancy in red-green dichromats and anomalous trichromats.

Color Constancy Adjustment Using Sub-Blocks of the Image
Extreme presence of the source light in digital images decreases the performance of many image processing algorithms, such as video analytics, object tracking, and image segmentation.

Color Constancy Convolutional Autoencoder
In this paper, we study the importance of pre-training for the generalization capability in the color constancy problem. We propose two novel approaches based on convolutional autoencoders: an unsupervised pre-training algorithm using a fine-tuned ...

Cross-Camera Convolutional Color Constancy [PDF]
We present "Cross-Camera Convolutional Color Constancy" (C5), a learning-based method, trained on images from multiple cameras, that accurately estimates a scene’s illuminant color from raw images captured by a new camera previously unseen during ...

Color Constancy Using Single Colors [PDF]
This work investigates if the von Kries adaptation can be generalized to deal with single colored patches. We investigate which colored patches can give statistically equivalent performance to a white patch for von Kries adaptation. The investigation is then extended to couples of colors, and the analysis of the characteristics of the colors forming ...
