Inheritance of a shell-color polymorphism in the mussel

Journal of Heredity, 1977
S polymorphisms are known to exist in several molluscan species. Most studied is probably the land snail, Cepaea nemoralis, which exhibits a few distinct morphs based on shell color and banding pattern'. These visual polymorphisms allow field populations to be characterized by their phenotypic frequencies.

Genetic basis of polymorphism in the color vision of platyrrhine monkeys

Vision Research, 1993
It was earlier proposed that the polymorphism of color vision observed in some neotropical monkeys could be accounted for by assuming that these animals have only a single photopigment gene locus on the X-chromosome. Three kinds of evidence have been added to existing data sets in an effort to evaluate the adequacy of the single locus model: (1 ...

The genetic basis of a dorsal color polymorphism in Rana pipiens

Journal of Heredity, 1980
Leopard frogs (Rana pipiens Schreber) from Colorado were used in laboratory matings to investigate the mode of inheritance of green-brown, dorsal background color polymorphism. A total of 624 F1 progeny were produced in 18 successful matings. The results support the hypothesis that the control of dorsal color in Rana pipens is a two-allele, one-locus ...

Polymorphic Composition of Colored Polypropylene Fibers

Crystal Growth & Design, 2004
The investigations of the structure of polypropylene fibers colored with quinacridone and phthalocyanine pigments were carried out. The fibers were extruded from the melt at three different temperatures and were taken at three different velocities. In fibers two polypropylene modifications, the monoclinic α and the trigonal β, were observed.

Correlates of color polymorphism in coconut crabs Birgus latro

Zoology, 2018
Color polymorphisms are widespread in nature and can be maintained by several evolutionary processes. We used the coconut crab (Birgus latro) red/blue color polymorphism as a test case to explore the functional significance of intraspecific variation in crab coloration. Across our study sites on Pemba and Chumbe Islands, Tanzania, and Christmas Island,
