A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Prophylactic stoma in robotic radical surgery for low-to-intermediate rectal cancer

open access: yesClinical Surgical Oncology
Background: Anastomotic leakage are common and serious complications after surgery for low and intermediate rectal cancers; a prophylactic stoma is thought to reduce the incidence of anastomotic leakage and alleviate its serious complications.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

The effects of oxaliplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy in high-risk stage II colon cancer with mismatch repair-deficient: a retrospective study

open access: yesBMC Cancer
Background For high-risk stageIImismatch repair deficient (dMMR) colon cancers, the benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy remains debatable. The principal aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of high-risk factors and the effect of ...

Programmed Death Ligand-1 expression in stage II colon cancer - experiences from a nationwide populationbased cohort

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2019
Background Patients suffering from high risk stage II colon cancer (CC) may benefit from adjuvant onco-therapy, but additional prognostic markers are needed for better treatment stratification.

UPF1 promotes chemoresistance to oxaliplatin through regulation of TOP2A activity and maintenance of stemness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2021
UPF1 is proved to dysregulate in multiple tumors and influence carcinogenesis. However, the role of UPF1 in oxaliplatin resistance in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unknown.

Creation of a Novel Nomogram Based on the Direct Bilirubin-To-Indirect Bilirubin Ratio and Lactate Dehydrogenase Levels in Resectable Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2021
Background: Recently, many studies have suggested that bilirubin is associated with the prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC). Conversely, there is substantial evidence that lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels are associated with the prognosis of cancer ...

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...
