Colorimetric determination of the fluoroquinolones [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 1997
Ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin and norfloxacin formed an amber coloured complex with iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate. The complex, which formed instantaneously at room temperature, was stable. The solutions of the complex obeyed Beer's law at 370 nm, the wavelength of maximum absorption of radiation (lambda[max]).

In silico and in vitro exploration of a tyrosinase for biocatalytic production of catechols

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tyrosinase from Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum is a promising biocatalyst for producing valuable catechols from monophenol substrates. This tyrosinase is uniquely suited to this due to its high monophenolase : diphenolase ratio. We combined in silico docking and in vivo kinetic characterisation of this tyrosinase with 11 industrially relevant monophenols,

A Homogeneous Colorimetric Strategy Based on Rose-like CuS@Prussian Blue/Pt for Detection of Dopamine

open access: yesSensors, 2023
The development of effective methods for dopamine detection is critical. In this study, a homogeneous colorimetric strategy for the detection of dopamine based on a copper sulfide and Prussian blue/platinum (CuS@PB/Pt) composite was developed.

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.

Based on Unmodified Aptamer-Gold Nanoparticles Colorimetric Detection of Dexamethasone in Food

open access: yesBiosensors, 2022
Residue and illegal addition of Dexamethasone (DEX) in food has received widespread attention over the past few decades. Long-term intake of DEX will have a strong endocrine-disrupting effect, and there is an urgent need to develop highly sensitive and ...

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Coronary Artery Calcium Progression: A Case Cohort Analysis From ELSA‐Brasil

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To investigate the association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and coronary artery calcium (CAC) prevalence, incidence, and progression over four years in adults without prior cardiovascular disease. Methods A case‐cohort study within the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA‐Brasil) included 585 participants (86 patients with ...

Model‐Guided Design of Paper Membrane Architectures for Controlled Flow and Enhanced Diagnostic Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometrical modifications on nitrocellulose membranes can result in observable differences in signal intensity relative to a reference membrane (top and bottom left). Using two reference experiments, we have developed a theoretical model that can reproduce the experimentally observed flow changes and provide information on membrane parameters, e.g ...

Colorimetric determination of maridomycin. [PDF]

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1979
A new, rapid and sensitive method for the quantitative determination of maridomycin (MDM) is proposed. The assay method is based on the reaction of the epoxy group of maridomycin with picric acid in ethyl acetate. This reaction product has absorption maxima at 415 and 475~480 nm in alkali.

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...
