IgG1 variations in the colostrum of Holstein dairy cows

open access: yesAnimal, 2016
High-immune quality colostrum (IgG1 concentration ⩾50 g/l) is crucial for the health and development of the young calf. Studies on colostrum quality tend to focus on external factors such as breed, parity or dry period length, but few have focused on ...

Analysis of Environmental Factors’ Impact on Donkeys’ Colostrum Quality [PDF]

open access: yesSustainability, 2018
Colostrum is a natural product, issued by both mammals and humans in the first week of lactation. Among different species, donkey colostrum is considered to have, in addition to a valuable composition in nutrients and immune factors, an outstanding similitude with human colostrum.

Sustainable control of cyathostomin infections in practice

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Cyathostomins are the most prevalent helminths in horses and are found in nearly all grazing groups. These parasites have been shown to exhibit widespread anthelmintic resistance and can cause clinical disease, so they are a growing concern.

Physiologically based pharmacokinetic model combined with a clinical lactation study to determine doravirine concentrations in human breastmilk

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 3, Page 952-959, March 2026.
Aims To determine breastmilk concentrations of doravirine via PBPK modelling in combination with a clinical lactation study. As women living with HIV are not able to cease antiretroviral therapy during lactation, it is necessary to establish drug transfer into breastmilk to determine exposure of the infant to antiretroviral drugs and potential risk of ...

Breast‐Milk Substitutes and Associated Factors Among Mothers With Infants Younger Than Six Months of Age in North Shewa District, Oromia, Ethiopia, 2023. A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Breast milk substitutes (BMS) use is discouraged during the first 6 months, as exclusive breastfeeding is the optimal feeding practice. However, breast milk exclusivity is uncertain, particularly in communities of developing countries, including Ethiopia as information from community claims.

Determining the IgG concentrations in bovine colostrum and calf sera with a novel enzymatic assay

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, 2018
Background Immune protection in newborn calves relies on a combination of the timing, volume and quality of colostrum consumed by the calf after birth. Poor quality colostrum with inadequate immunoglobulin concentration contributes to failed transfer of ...

Evaluation of Buffalo Colostrum Quality by Estimation of Enzyme Activity Levels

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 2001
A study to evaluate the value and potential use of colostral enzymes as markers for the evaluation of buffalo colostrum quality was conducted. The enzymes gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in buffalo's colostrum were measured spectrophotometrically, and their activities were correlated with the ...
