Colour vision in a family with Sorsby's dystrophy
Fraser & Wallace (1971) investigated a family with Sorsby’s dystrophy, and found a high prevalence of a mild red-green colour deficiency. Using a battery of tests, I re-examined the colour vision of members of the family at risk of developing the ...

Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...

Dynamic Fluorescence Modulation via Light‐Driven Competitive Protonation
A two‐component molecular system demonstrates reversible, light‐driven fluorescence write–erase cycling and thermal imaging. Illumination of a merocyanine photoacid transfers a proton to a highly efficient fluorescent pyridinium dye, switching its emission color; thermal relaxation reverses the process in the dark.

Spotting Fruit versus Picking Fruit as the Selective Advantage of Human Colour Vision
The spatiochromatic properties of the red–green dimension of human colour vision appear to be optimized for picking fruit in leaves at about arms' reach.

Geometry‐Driven Whispering‐Gallery Modes in Self‐Assembled Phosphorescent Organic Microtubes
Micelles encapsulating tris(2‐phenylpyridine)iridium(III) self‐assemble into a hollow hexagonal microtube stabilized by a surface passivation layer. The hexagonal cross‐section confines circulating light along its facets, sustaining sharp whispering‐gallery resonances that guide photoluminescence emission under laser excitation.

Learning Highly Dynamic Skills Transition for Quadruped Jumping Through Constrained Space
A quadruped robot masters dynamic jumps through constrained spaces with animal‐inspired moves and intelligent vision control. This hierarchical learning approach combines imitation of biological agility with real‐time trajectory planning. Although legged animals are capable of performing explosive motions while traversing confined spaces, replicating ...

Information Transmission Strategies for Self‐Organized Robotic Aggregation
In this review, we discuss how information transmission influences the neighbor‐based self‐organized aggregation of swarm robots. We focus specifically on local interactions regarding information transfer and categorize previous studies based on the functions of the information exchanged.
