Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Two 1/3.5 reduced scale one-story 1 × 2 bay reinforced concrete (RC) flat plate sub-structures were fabricated and static progressive collapse tests in the scenario of a side column loss were carried out on them.

Alternate load paths in mitigating progressive collapse of RC building structures subjected to column loss scenarios [PDF]
Column loss scenarios result in high potential for progressive collapse of RC building structures since the gravity loads are severely amplified by both doubling-of-span and dynamic factors.

Robustness assessment of a steel self-centering moment-resisting frame under column loss [PDF]
The robustness of a seismically-designed steel self-centering moment-resisting frame (SCMRF) under a column loss scenario is numerically assessed. The prototype SC-MRF is equipped with post-tensioned bars and optimised stainless steel energy dissipation

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Reinforced concrete (RC) non-seismic frames in Middle Eastern multistory buildings often have beam–column connections with discontinuous bottom reinforcement, heightening the risk of progressive collapse if an outer column fails.
