Office-based physical activity: mapping a social ecological model approach against COM-B

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2020
Background There are growing concerns over the health impacts of occupational sedentary behaviour on office-based workers and increasing workplace recognition of the need to increase physical activity at work.

Mn‐Induced Support Stabilization and Ir Electronic Activation Enable Acid‐Stable, Low‐Loading IrO2 Water Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a dual‐regulation strategy utilizing a Mn‐doped Co3O4 support to enhance the activity and stability of low‐loading IrO2 catalysts for acidic water oxidation. Mn induces strong Mn─O covalency to reinforce the spinel lattice and activates Ir sites via interfacial electron transfer.

NLSS3 Impairs SHM1 Autophagic Degradation to Regulate Leaf Morphology and Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rice, NLSS3 binds and shields SHM1 from autophagic degradation to maintain serine homeostasis. The A132P mutation in nlss3 disrupts this, triggering SHM1 loss, metabolic dysfunction, K+ imbalance, and impaired ROS scavenging, which collectively drive narrow leaves and salt sensitivity.

Determinants of continuation on HIV pre-exposure propylaxis among female sex workers at a referral hospital in Uganda: a mixed methods study using COM-B model

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Female sex workers (FSWs) have the highest HIV prevalence in Uganda. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has been recommended as a key component of the HIV combination prevention strategy.

Lesion Site‐Targeted Microspheres Modulate Nav1.7‐Related Signaling for Osteoarthritis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cartilage‐targeted carbamazepine‐loaded WYRGRL‐modified composite microspheres (CBZ/WCOM) anchor to exposed type II collagen in osteoarthritic lesions and release carbamazepine under acidic conditions. This bind‐then‐release platform modulates Nav1.7‐related sodium signaling, Na⁺/Ca²⁺ exchanger‐associated Ca2+ dynamics, and heat shock protein 70 ...

Determinants of physical activity promotion in primary care from the patient perspective of people at risk of or living with chronic disease: a COM-B analysis

open access: yesBMC Primary Care
Background Chronic disease (CD) accounts for more than half of the overall global disease burden and physical activity (PA) is an established evidence-based strategy for the prevention and management of CD. Global policy emphasises the value of embedding

Tumor‐Specific Delivery of CD28 siRNA via Lyso‐PC C‐16 Modified Lipid Nanoparticles Overcomes Anti‐PD‐1 Resistance by Remodeling Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops 16:0 LPC‐modified lipid nanoparticles (LPC‐LNPs) with cancer cell specificity by exploiting altered tumor lipid metabolism. LPC‐LNPs encapsulating Cd28 small interfering RNA (LPC‐LNP‐Cd28) knock down cancer cell CD28 without affecting T cells, inflame the tumor microenvironment, and overcome anti‐PD‐1 resistance.

Verification of UML models by translation to UML-B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
UML-B is a 'UML like' notation based on the Event-B formalism which allows models to be progressively detailed through refinements that are proven to be consistent and to satisfy safety invariants using the Rodin platform and its automatic proof tools ...

Identifying mechanisms by which social determinants of health impact TB diagnostic evaluation uptake in Uganda: a qualitative study

open access: yesInternational Journal for Equity in Health
Background Social and structural determinants of health (SDoH) are associated with tuberculosis (TB) outcomes but often unaddressed in TB care programs.
