Programming Neuromorphic Plasticity Through Ionic and Electronic Coupling in Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Neuromorphic plasticity in OECTs is governed by the post‐stimulus evolution of coupled ionic and electronic states. Semiconductor chemistry and morphology, electrolyte composition and interfaces, and device architecture regulate ion injection, transport, confinement, and release, shifting responses from rapidly relaxing STP to metastable memory and ...

How the Porous Transport Layer Dictates Membrane Electrode Assembly Performance of IrO2 Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Schottky barrier formed at the catalyst | PTL interface critically governs both the initial performance and long‐term durability of the PEMWE, and its magnitude is dictated by the catalyst's work function. This limitation can be resolved by combining a rutile IrO2 core for efficient electron transfer with an amorphous IrOx shell for high surface ...

Self‐Adaptive Gradient Interphase Enables Durable Solid‐State Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a machine learning‐guided interfacial design that forms a self‐adaptive graded interphase on lithium metal anode. A B105M40 composite interlayer evolves into lithiophilic, porous, and fast‐ion‐conducting phases, enabling intimate contact, dendrite suppression, and uniform lithium deposition.

Hydrogel‐Based Method for High‐Resolution Measurements of Contact Mechanics in Rapid Biological Adhesives: A Case Study in Cuttlefish Tentacle Strikes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cuttlefish and squid can catch their prey within milliseconds using specialized tentacles and suckers. The physics of how the suckers can attach so quickly has remained a mystery given the technical challenges of studying them in vivo. In this publication, we develop a hydrogel that retains imprints of the suckers in order to estimate the forces they ...
