Combined gait asymmetry metric

2016 38th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2016
People with physical impairments often have asymmetric gait. To evaluate if their overall symmetry is improving during intervention, there needs to be a simple metric that can help classify gait patterns that includes multiple measures of gait asymmetry.

Combining metric features in large collections

2008 IEEE 24th International Conference on Data Engineering Workshop, 2008
Current information systems are required to process complex digital objects, which are typically characterized by multiple descriptors. Since the values of many descriptors belong to non-sortable domains, they are effectively comparable only by a sort of similarity.

Combining metrics for mesh simplification and parameterization

ACM SIGGRAPH 2005 Sketches on - SIGGRAPH '05, 2005
We present a mesh simplification strategy for generating polygonal meshes with well-shaped faces in the presence of constraints. We introduce a novel combination of metrics to drive the simplification process while generating high-quality meshes. Our method handles the creation of coarse triangle or triangle/quad meshes with tagged features.

UNSUPERVISED COMBINATION OF METRICS FOR SEMANTIC CLASS INDUCTION

2006 IEEE Spoken Language Technology Workshop, 2006
In this paper, unsupervised algorithms for combining semantic similarity metrics are proposed for the problem of automatic class induction. The automatic class induction algorithm is based on the work of Pargellis et al,. The semantic similarity metrics that are evaluated and combined are based on narrow- and wide-context vector- product similarity ...

A software metric combination model for software reuse

Proceedings 1998 Asia Pacific Software Engineering Conference (Cat. No.98EX240), 2002
Software reuse is an important approach to increase software quality and productivity. In a software reuse procedure, extracting the software components with high reuse potential and high quality is a key step that may directly affect the steps that follow.

Performance Analysis for SVM Combining with Metric Learning

Neural Processing Letters, 2018
This paper analyses the performance of combining Support Vector Machines (SVMs) and metric learning, in order to evaluate the effect of metric learning on improving SVM. First, we establish the sufficient condition under which the performance of SVM cannot be improved by metric learning.

Combining process models and metrics in practice

1995
Practical experiences carried out so far, show that it is plausible to combine metrication and process modelling and thereby profit from their mutual influence. Tooling has not played an important part in the experiences. However, it was found that a simple drawing tool and a spread sheet are useful.
