Combination of Metric-Based and Rule-Based Classification
2005We consider two classification approaches. The metric-based approach induces the distance measure between objects and classifies new objects on the basis of their nearest neighbors in the training set. The rule-based approach extracts rules from the training set and uses them to classify new objects.

Analyzing Java software by combining metrics and program visualization
Proceedings of the Fourth European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering, 2002Shimba, a prototype reverse engineering environment, has been built to support the understanding of Java software. Shimba uses Rigi and SCED to analyze, visualize, and explore the static and dynamic aspects, respectively, of the subject system. The static software artifacts and their dependencies are extracted from Java byte code and viewed as directed

Supervised Asymmetric Metric Extraction: An Approach to Combine Distances
2017We propose a novel supervised distance metric extraction technique. Given several original metrics and a finite set of labeled objects, the problem is to produce a new metric which better agrees with the labels of the training objects. The problem may be seen as the best single metric extraction from a metric-based description.

On the Usefulness of Combined Metrics for 3D Image Quality Assessment
2015Due to the growing popularity of 3D imaging technology which can be observed in recent years, one of the most relevant challenges for image quality assessment methods has become their extension towards reliable evaluation of stereoscopic images. Since known 2D image quality metrics are not necessarily well correlated with subjective quality scores of ...

A Validation of Combined Metrics for Color Image Quality Assessment
2014Since most of even recently proposed image quality assessment metrics are typically applied for a single color channel in both compared images, a reliable color image quality assessment is still a challenging task for researchers. One of the major drawbacks limiting the progress in this field is the lack of image datasets containing the subjective ...

Combining the Best of Perceptual Quality Metrics
2012In this paper, we present a new piecewise-linear combination algorithm for quality metrics. We demonstrate the performance of this algorithm by applying it on four RR distortion-selective quality metrics.
