Tricycloquinazoline and Combustion Products

Tricycloquinazoline (TCQ), which can be produced by the pyrolysis of methyl anthranilate, is a stable compound which has been shown to be carcinogenic1,2. Since methyl anthranilate is present in plants3, there was therefore good reason to look for TCQ in the products of combustion of fuels derived from vegetation.
