Generation of Viable Bacterial and Fungal Aerosols during Biomass Combustion
Biomass combustion is known to be one of the main contributors to air pollution. However, the influence of biomass burning on the distribution of viable bacterial and fungal aerosols is uncertain. This study aimed to examine survivability of bacteria and

Stratospheric Chemical Lifetime of Aviation Fuel Incomplete Combustion Products
The stratosphere contains haze rich in sulfuric acid, which plays a significant role in stratospheric chemistry and in global climate. Commercial aircraft deposit significant amounts of incomplete combustion products into the lower stratosphere.

Composition of coal combustion by-products: The importance of combustion technology
The combustion by-products (fly ash and bottom ash) from a pulverized fuel boiler and hybrid boiler (pulverized fuel burners and fluidized bed) were compared, where both boilers were fired with predominantly the same coal. The mineral (phase) composition was determined using an optical and scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction; the ...

Burned Gas Characteristics of Laminar Lifted Flame at the Beginning of Stream Heating
This research experimentally investigates the exhaust gas characteristics of a methane-air lifted-jet flame with elevated stream temperatures up to 450 K. Emission indices of NOx and CO were measured by direct gas sampling using a gas detector tube.

Soot control of laminar jet-diffusion lifted flame excited by high-frequency acoustic oscillation
A novel technology to reduce soot is developed utilizing a high-frequency standing wave of 20 kHz applied to a methane-air lifted jet flame base. The amount of soot was measured using the transmitted light attenuation method. A mixing profile of the fuel

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.
