Treatment of polypropylene fabric in oxygen plasma was used to impart the fabric surface with more hydrophilic surface properties. Changes in bulk properties were minimal as the modification mainly affected the fabric surface. Bulk fabric properties water retention, moisture content and wicking were monitored over a period of 33 days.

Skeletal pathologies in extant crocodilians as a window into the paleopathology of fossil archosaurs
Abstract Crocodilians, together with birds, are the only extant relatives to many extinct archosaur groups, making them highly important for interpreting paleopathological conditions in a phylogenetic disease bracketing model. Despite this, comprehensive data on osteopathologies in crocodilians remain scarce.

Abstract The vertebrate skull is composed of bones derived from neural crest cells and mesoderm. The evolutionary capacity of the skull has been linked, in part, to the emergence of neural crest cells; however, this increased capacity for evolutionary change requires that variation within neural crest‐ and mesoderm‐derived bones remains partly ...

Objective Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is an important extra‐articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) associated with high mortality and morbidity. Lung ultrasonography (LUS) has recently emerged as a possible screening tool. We assessed the role of LUS in monitoring radiologic progression and the development of new interstitial lung ...

Three general techniques of radio science used to attempt to observe comets are discussed: spectral line, continum and radar observations. Of these, only radio spectral line observations achieved a degree of success but, more often than not, the results ...

Warsaw Catalogue of cometary orbits: 119 near-parabolic comets?
Context. The dynamical evolution of near-parabolic comets strongly depends on the starting values of the orbital elements derived from the positional observations.

Oocyte–cumulus cell interaction: a key factor in early embryo development
ABSTRACT The evaluation of oocyte competence is a fundamental step in achieving successful outcomes following assisted reproduction techniques (ART). At present, however, conventional oocyte maturation assessment is carried out by morphological observation, which is a subjective method that does not consider molecular features.

Theories of comets to the age of Laplace. [PDF]
The basic question from which this project originated was simple: how did natural philosophers and astronomers define the nature and place of a new category of celestial objects---the comets---after Brahe's estimation of cometary distances?

Plasma astrophysics implication in discovery and interpretation of X-ray radiation from comets
Discovery of soft X-ray radiation from comet Hyakutake C/1996 B2 by space telescope ROSAT in March 1996 as well as establishing the regularity of the phenomenon for comets in general opened a new area of research for the plasma astrophysics.
