Triple-wavelength fiber ring laser based on a hybrid gain medium actively mode-locked at 10 GHz [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A fiber ring laser based on a hybrid gain medium that produces three simultaneously mode-locked wavelength channels is presented. The lithium niobate based modulator used to actively mode-lock the laser cavity at 10 GHz is birefringence compensated to ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

A Virtual Negative Resistor Based Common Mode Current Resonance Suppression Method for Three-Level Grid-Tied Inverter with Discontinuous PWM

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The output LC filter of a photovoltaic (PV) string three-level grid-tied inverter that connects the filter capacitor neutral point to dc-link capacitor neutral point can reduce the common-mode (CM) current injected to the grid by letting the CM current ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Design of a Multilayer Dual-Band Balanced Bandpass Filter on a Circular Patch Resonator

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
This letter presents a novel multilayer dual-band balanced bandpass filter (BPF) design by using two perturbed circular patch resonators. The TM11 mode and TM21 mode of the resonator with odd-symmetric field distributions are explored to realize the ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Sliding Mode Control for Slosh-Free Motion using a Nonlinear Sliding Surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A new nonlinear switching surface is proposed for the design of a sliding mode controller for a class of mismatched uncertain systems. A control system for slosh-free motion of a partially filled liquid container is sought.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
